History

Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church has a rich history in the Morrisville community.
It was about the year of 1913, when a group of families moved to this community, and were inspired to organize and build a church where they would assemble for praise and worship services.

Mr. Henderson Amey

On Christmas Eve night of 1914, the first assembly was held in the home of the late Burlie Clements. These meetings continued to be held from time to time in various homes, until the Lord lead the worshipers to construct a church building. Mr. Henderson Amey gave one acre of his land for the construction of the church.

Construction was completed in 1915, and Reverend J. E. Thorpe was called to serve as the first Pastor. The Henderson Grove Church family gathered to worship in this first sanctuary for over 50 years. After several years of praying, saving and planning, in September of 1975 a formal groundbreaking ceremony was held for our present sanctuary. We moved into this sanctuary in August of 1978.

God has been faithful to the humble worshipers at Henderson Grove. And we know he has been with us, as we have completed building a new edifice in which to praise and worship His name. Our first service in the new sanctuary was held on April 6th, 2014, continuing to meet the needs of God’s people in the Morrisville community.
